Sensitive kid

My son is two and a half years old and he is super sensitive. The song "Tis the season to be Jolly"makes him cry for some reason and always has also he cries if you sing home on the range and has always cried when he hears it.He acts like it hurts his feelings or something???He is also painfully shy but that is because we don't see many people very often. We don't know anyone with kids and we don't have many friends to visit so he is not used to many people.
I remember being a very sensitive child as well.I had hoped he would not have these feelings like I did because it made my childhood very hard and I spent so much time crying and being afraid and hurt about things.
My Jack is a very sweet and easy going little guy!He is no trouble at all.He is pretty smart and talks all the time,he loves to play with his toys and he has a wonderful singing voice!Another odd thing is he will not cry if he hurts himself! He is not sensitive to pain, only emotional. When he falls and cuts his knees all up,I won't know he is hurt til I see all the blood or that he is limping.
He just can't be yelled at or be around loud noises or toys that make sudden movements and loud sounds.By the way I am describing him you might think he has Autism but he doesn't,he is completely free of these kinds of disorders. He is really loving and such a terrific guy.I am just curious to hear if anyone else has a kid like mine.

Wow I would think you were talking about my son. He is now 6 and has always been this way and still is. Stuart Little is a really tough one for him he crys through out the entire movie. I think the more sensitive their are the more loving they are:)

He sounds like a wonderful gentle soul!

I think some kids are more empathetic than others - they care so much about what other people feel. What a sweetheart!

Since you're worried about him being sensitive to the point of being unhappy or bothered... maybe if there's someone special that he can spend time with that is close to his age? Someone that will play nicely (since it sounds like he does!)?

I've noticed that Itty Bit needs time with other kids. He's trying to figure out how to interact. But anytime someone laughs, he thinks they are laughing at him.

What a lucky Jack to have his Mom care so much for him! He sounds absolutely precious. Hug him for me :)

Hey there! My son has something called Sensory Processing Disorder. It's NOT autism. Not even close. Almost al children with autism have this symptom, but that's where the commonality ends.
Jacob loves to sing, but dosn't want anyone else to. He'll only wear certain fabrics. He doesn't like many different foods. If it looks different he won't touch it, and gets visibly upset if you ask him to try it. He doesn't even want it on his plate.

He's also super smart, and very social. We homeschool (he turned 4in August) and he loves to read and is at about 1st grade level in Math. There is a great book called the Out-of-Sync child. Check it out at the library, or just google Sensory Processing Disorder. There are all different types and extremes so don't freak if you read something creepy.

Good luck to you and your hubby in my drawing!

Awww, what a sweetheart your Jack is! I have no idea because I'm old and have no young children around me. I also have no experience with boys, but I'm hoping he'll grow out of it or at least toughen up a little before he goes to kindergarten because you know how mean little children can be to one another - just like adults!

BTW: I mailed your package/envelope today!
